Meeting the Doctor

Posted on Wednesday June 14, 2017 @ 7:11am by Captain Miranda Corleone & Lieutenant Minami Kaburagi M.D.

Mission: A Day In The Life...
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Current

Making her way into sickbay, Miranda stopped at the reception desk. "Hello. I'd like to get a minute with Doctor Kaburagi, if its possible." she said to the nurse manning the desk.

The receptionist looked up at the Captain. "I'll send her a message. If you would like to take a seat Captain" she said with a smile. The medical complex on a starbase spanned multiple levels, and had its own turbolift system. "She may be a couple of minutes getting down here"

"It's all good. I'm not in a hurry. I'll be right over here." she said, gesturing toward a row of chairs.

A few minutes later, Minami arrived in the reception area. The young woman, with silvery hair in two braids walked over to the desk. After speaking with her for a couple of seconds, and a swish of her grey and teal medical coat made her way over to the waiting officer.

"Captain Corleone I presume?" she asked.

"Guilty as charged." she answered with a laugh.

Minami nodded. "Would you accompany me to my office?" she asked simply indicating the way to the nearby turbolift.

"Lead the way, Doc."

A few moments later they arrived in the spacious medical office. The room was circular, a large desk towards three slanted windows. The interior docking bay of the starbase could be seen with ships and shuttles moving around inside. Two couches spanned the walls, with a coffee table in the center. Also two bookshelves stoon by the side of these couches.

Another door lead to a private examination room and a small bathroom area. "Take a seat" Minami said as she moved to the replicator. "Would you require a drink of tea?" she asked.

"I never say no to a hot cuppa." Corleone said with a smile.

Bringing over two cups of warm green tea over. She sat opposite the captain. "So, what can I help you with today?" she asked with a small smile.

"Nothing medical. This is more of a 'put a face to the name' meeting." she answered then looked toward the ceiling. "Computer, seal this room to 'compartmental' clearance." There was a beep, the door slid shut and sealed, the glass in the window went opaque, and all electronics in the room went dark.

"There is also one other matter than needs to be handled very delicately." Corleone said, "As Chief Medical Officer, you are cleared to be read in on Team Six, as you may have to treat members in the event of a medical emergency outside of the abilities of the team medic." and handed over a PaDD.

Setting her cup aside, Minami took the PaDD and skimmed the abstract. It would take some more in depth reading to complete the document.
"Team six?" she asked raising a eyebrow in confusion.

"Yes, it's a multi-government anti-terror strike force that operates out of this base. But they cannot ever be discovered."

Minami sat back in the chair and placed the PaDD next to her. She would of course read it more thoroughly later. "So, we have an anti-terrorist group stationed here on this base. So I'll be looking out as their doctor for multiple injuries at times and they may also be different species?" she said simply analyzing the captains words. "Why would this need to be my concern? Every patient who walks through those doors gets treated the same"

"I would expect no less." Corleone answered, her voice taking a cold tone. "But these are likely to be injuries that would normally raise questions. Like how did the Romulan Ambassador's personal assistant end up with an injury from a Breen weapon?" she added, "I just want you to be prepared and have a plan to keep your staff from asking dangerous questions."

Minami took another sip of her tea. "We're doctors" she said. "We don't usually ask questions unless they are life threatening" she then gave the captain a rather evil grin, one that gave her a mad scientist look to her and changed her very aura. "However, if I find it funny I may ask. Like when a young Engineering Ensign managed to 'sit' on his hyperspanner which then got lodged up his backside" she grinned.

"I don't even want to know." Miranda said, with a shake of her head.

Minami chuckled in response. "Oh, we did. And trust me. The story he came up with excellent" she laughed. "Your secret team is safe with me. I'll treat them personally. However I hope that they don't end up in here" she said.

"Excellent. Is there anything you need from me, or are you settling in well?"

Minami shook her head. "I've been here only a short time. This medical facility is quite large. However, I will let you know if I need anything. The previous Chief Medical Officer left a rather hefty file for me to work through in regards to running this place" she said taking another sip of her tea.

"Yeah, Doctor Casa was a big fan of paperwork. I've never seen so many lists and charts in my whole life."

The doctor nodded in response. "Yeah" she replied. "That's an understatement" she added as she finished her tea and placed the empty cup on the coffee table. "So, tell me." she said. "Are you a Commander who needs physically dragging for your physical?" she asked.

"I can't speak for him, but I'm ok with stopping in without threats." she teased. Then added, "Well, I won't take up anymore of your time. I'm sure you've got much more important things on your schedule." Then she stood and placed the now empty tea mug on the desk. "Thanks for the tea." she added, making her way to the door. "Be seeing you Doc."
